Hi Luke. What an interesting question. But I have no idea.

The Americans made all their ammo, didn't buy it at the store like we do. It was musket cartridges for the most part - rifles were just coming into popularity and so weren't very common.

Often the women and children packed the cartridges at the kitchen table. Even the musket balls were made at home.
